Picnic 2016

Hi there, picnic lovers…

The Bownesians’ Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, Sept 18 this year since we had such a good time in the early Autumn last Summer… if that makes any sense. Keep your eyes on this regularly updated site to see the fantastic Picnic line up for this year.

In other Bownesian news, we opened for Jonathon Richman at the Palomino last week. Well, we played there Thursday, and JR played Saturday, but technically, we opened. At his show, I told him we had played a couple of his tunes in that same venue a couple days before, and he said, ‘Oh yeah? Which ones?’ I told him and he said, ‘Well, good luck with your band’. Thanks, Jonathon! We love you.

Further Bownesian news – our singer Leah will be performing at Torch Night down at Dickens’ Pub in early June. Keep posted for the exact date, and if you hear it, let me know!!

The Bownesians’ Picnic occurs on the last afternoon of the Calgary Stampede.

Date/time: 1pm-6pm Sunday, July 12, 2015
Location: The Commons, Baker Park (across the Bow River from Bowness Park)

The Picnic is BYOP, which means Bring Your Own Picnic, even though the Bownesian Grocer generously provides burgers and hot dogs that our local Lions offer their time and resources to BBQ.

The BBQ is free, however a donation is suggested. This year the burgers and dogs will be served up by the Bowwest Community Resource Centre who are this year’s recipient of the donations raised from the BBQ.
